![]() ![]() This article addresses two of the most common methods - manual migration and using a migration plugin. There are a few different ways to move a WordPress site from your localhost to a live server. Migrate your WordPress site from localhost to a live server If you’re new to local development, then Local might be your best choice, as it strikes the right balance between ease of use and customization while having some great WordPress-specific features. Laragon is an extremely lightweight, general purpose local PHP development stack. One of its unique features includes the ability to migrate your local site to a live server (if you use the premium version of the software). ServerPress is designed for local WordPress website development. Local development tools for Mac and Windows XAMPP is a long-standing, general-purpose, local PHP development stack. Lando is less beginner-friendly, but is a highly-customizable local development environment which allows you to closely match your live server configuration. It’s definitely worth using if you host with Kinsta. DevKinsta is similar to Local, but is a slightly less mature product. It also has the option to send a ‘live link’ to clients so they can access your local site for a brief period of time. It has some great features to assist with development like support for WordPress command-line interface (WP-CLI) and multiple versions of PHP, MySQL, and Apache/NGINX. This local development tool is specifically designed for WordPress. Local development tools for Linux, Mac, and Windows The easiest method is to use an application that includes all of the components needed to run WordPress (server, database, and PHP support). ![]() ![]() There are a few different approaches to developing locally. WordPress development tools for localhost Important: Even when working locally, you should take backups and use version control to avoid losing your work. Most local development environments are free to use, which can save hundreds or thousands of dollars over the course of development. If you build your site on a live server, you (or your client) will be paying for hosting costs that entire time. Depending on the type of website you’re building, development could take weeks or months. Anything you do on your local server won’t affect your live server. Taking a flight? Working from a location with slow or unreliable internet? Local development is perfect in this context. You don’t need to be connected to the internet.Because you aren’t using an internet connection to develop, you’ll be safe from hacking attempts due to any vulnerabilities in plugins or themes you may be using. You can easily experiment or carry out updates locally to check for any errors or incompatibilities. Instead, you can work directly with the files you need. Developing locally is fast as there’s no need to push files to the live server. Here are the advantages of developing on localhost: If migrating a WordPress website from a localhost is time consuming and prone to error, why shouldn’t you just develop on a live server from the start? Five reasons to develop your WordPress site on a localhost So, in some cases, a manual migration is still the best option. While a plugin is the easiest solution for migration, you may run into some issues if your site is particularly large or if there are any conflicts between the local and live environments. The process can be quite involved and take some time if you do it manually. If you’re relatively new to website development, moving a WordPress website from localhost to a live website will require a bit of extra learning. Developing websites locally has a lot of advantages over a live server, but once site development is complete, it needs to be moved to a live website and made publicly accessible. ![]() It’s common practice for WordPress developers to create websites on a localhost, which is a local server hosted on their personal computer or laptop. ![]()

![]() ![]() I have tried to call Acorn & Oak several times, but all they do is give me the run around and never resolve anything. In front of my son and I, Adam Hedrick rationalized away all the damage as "Normal wear and tear," which it was not, refused to submit the tenants to all three credit bureaus for the excess cost of damage they did, and has yet to send me the nightly fee and/or the security deposit. The tenants then illegally over stayed in the home for one more day, I have yet to receive the nightly fee for that over stay $195.00, or the security deposit for all the damage they did to the tune of $2800. The inspector who did the assessment on the house noted one or more damages to the home that were either willful negligence on the part of the tenants, and/or vindictive, malicious damage, or through sheer disrespect for the care of the home. ![]() The Realtors that did gain access said what a horrible state the house was in. I asked Adam several times to go in and inspect the home to make sure she wasn't trashing my home, and each time he said everything was okay, nothing was wrong, and he couldn't see any damage. She refused Realtors to show the home to buyers on numerous occasions, and Adam did absolutely nothing to deter and/or stop this by evicting her. The tenants became upset when I put the home on the market and the woman wanted me to sell my home to her for $15K less than what it was worth. First of all, Adam had only five people on the contract, their were six living in my home. ![]() The next tenants that moved in tore up my home. Despite my reluctance Adam once again insisted to "Keep the tenants happy," unless they didn't rent again and reminded me "You said yourself you can't afford to pay two mortgages." It supposedly took 4hrs to remove the fish from the bath tubs and Adam okayed my being billed that much for their removal. Another incident was where Adam insisted the tenants wanted rubber fish removed from the bottom of the bath tubs, a safety feature, because they were "Uncomfortable," to stand and sit on. Numerous repairs to my home, built in 2003 by Pulte, appeared to be unnecessary, but Adam insisted they were all legitimate which, obviously, they weren't as evidenced by the dishwasher replacement. When I got the invoice recently, only then did I realize it was a repair that didn't need to be done. There were numerous repairs to the home done, at least one of which was not necessary as evidenced by the contractor noting that, but Adam insisted to keep the tenants happy to just go and replace it because it was old. Contract states the property manager is to represent the landlord, me, only and not the tenants, this has not happened. Initially, Adam rented the home for $300 less than market value to keep it rented stating that, because I was a student and couldn't afford two mortgages.
